Choosing Peace

Here’s a little memory from the day before Van’s birth as I awaited the enormously important event of his planned caesarean birth! I snapped this picture when the little bottle on the table gave words to what I had been learning for the past nine months. When we can choose to feel peaceful, we can do just about anything!

“Peace does not mean to be in a
place where there is no noise, trouble,
or hard work. It means to be in
the midst of those things and
be calm in your heart.”

And that is why we want our children to become peaceful people. So that they can endure peacefully, resiliently, throughout their lives, even when they cannot be in peaceful rooms!
